Computer, what a nice investment! My grandparents bought their first one when I was just two years old and it has become my best friend. However, let’s face it, having the computer is not enough. If you want to build your own computer, here are a few tips that will help you get started.

Get a computer with dust-free power supply, a durable case, and a small but light-weight computer. Avoid a large desktop or a tower PC. The larger your computer, the more expensive it is going to be.

Memory will be your most important feature.

If you are going to use the computer for gaming, I would recommend a 3 GB RAM. The less memory the better.

It’s important to have an internet connection. While you can purchase a computer from a retail store, I recommend looking at using one of the many free computers on the Internet. There are so many options for a free computer; it’s hard to go wrong.

You can also choose to modify your computer yourself. This isn’t recommended though. Modifying the hardware of your computer is incredibly difficult and there are several dangers involved. While it may sound easy, there are a few dangers associated with changing hardware like moving parts.

Need a better processor?

You can find a CPU that has a much higher clock speed. Having the new computer is a great idea. If you’re going to use your computer a lot, this is a must. In order to increase your RAM and graphics card, you can add an additional processor.

You will also need a larger hard drive. While you can use any size drive, if you’re going to be using the computer for video editing and streaming high-definition content, you’ll need a larger drive. You can purchase a 2 TB drive for about $100, which is more than enough.

Keep your computer cool! Many people find that they have to run their computer all the time, which causes the fan to run at maximum speed to keep the temperature low.

In addition to the above mentioned features, you may also need a hard drive. Again, look around for your best prices. Look for a company that offers online backup. If you are going to be using your computer a lot, this is a must.

Start with an old computer, try it out and then upgrade to a newer model. Remember, you don’t have to buy a brand new computer to get started with the DIY build. But, it’s nice to have the newer model that costs much less.

If you follow these tips, you can be on your way to becoming the computer guru you always wanted to be. Now all you need is some patience! Stay tuned for more DIY tutorials.
